Mission
To teach children the basic reading skills necessary to have a successful educational experience and an equal opportunity to succeed in life by providing a professionally managed one-on-one volunteer tutoring program staffed with well-trained, caring individuals who help each child achieve their full reading potential.
History
All-Star Kids Tutoring, Inc. was founded in 1996 by a group of community-minded individuals who wanted to do something to help at-risk youth in the greater Phoenix metropolitan area. After visiting several organizations around the country, they founded All-Star Kids Tutoring, Inc., a 501(c) 3 non-profit, to help children break the cycle of illiteracy by mastering basic reading skills. These founders became the first members of the ASKT Board of Directors and began assisting children on the road to becoming successful adults.
Throughout the years, ASKT has provided free of charge, one-on-one volunteer literacy tutoring to over 1,000 elementary school students struggling to master basic reading skills. ASKT also supports children's literacy by working with students' families and providing them with home libraries.
