What Tutors Say About ASKT!
I have enjoyed working with ASKT more than I expected I would. Everyone always says they receive more out of volunteering than they actually give, and I found out it really is true. I have been blessed tremendously this past year by seeing my student trasnform from a quiet, withdrawn child who would not read out loud into an outgoing, enthusiastic reader! Speaking with my student's parents helped me to see that I was not only effecting the life of the child I was tutoring, but the life of her entire family as well. This has been an experience I will never forget and I can not wait to see what will happen next year!
-- Desiree Bagley, tutor since 2005
The ASKT program does a great job offering training, encouragement, and appreciation for the volunteers. Giving away books to the students is wonderful!
-- Barbara Williams, tutor since 2002
The students are thrilled to participate and do their best to improve their reading skills. Tutors enjoy their experience very much and feel that they are accomplishing something each week.
-- Beth Teply, tutor since 2005

The strength of the program is the one-on-one relationship that gets established between the student and the tutor. The sense of community that the group activity creates is also very positive.
-- Sara Paikowsky, tutor since 2005
One strength is that our time with our student is not overplanned by the tutoring program. I am always well supported, I feel that the kids are really cared for and viewed as individuals with individual needs. I feel that the staff was very helpful in helping me meet the needs of my student.
-- Dana Stout, tutor since 2004
I like that there is training available and the weekly emails with ideas of activities. I do not have a background in education, so those things were especially helpful to me.
-- Elizabeth Sierer, tutor since 2005
