What happens in a tutoring session?
Here is an example of a typical 6:00-7:30 p.m. session:
6:00-6:05: Start.
Sign in, get materials and select books. Visit with your student before starting.
6:05-6:50: One-on-one tutoring.
You and your student sit down and work together on activities including sharing new literature, reading familiar stories, writing together, developing vocabulary, and recording your accomplishments.
6:50-7:00: Snack and Drink Break.
7:00-7:30: Group activity.
All tutors and students come together for a group activity that will reinforce student reading skills and increase their confidence. Activities include writing as a group, performing reader's theater, playing rhyming bingo, and much more!
